Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences Rises 100 Places in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027

According to the International Affairs Directorate of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the internationally recognized systems for evaluating and comparing higher education institutions. The ranking assesses universities based on indicators across five broad areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook

According to the results published for 2027, a total of 2,297 universities from 118 countries are included in the ranking, including 89 universities from Iran

In the 2027 edition, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences has improved its position by 100 places compared with the previous year and is ranked in the 701–800 band worldwide. Based on the reported positions of Iranian universities of medical sciences, KUMS ranks fourth among universities of medical sciences in Iran.

In the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the University of Oxford has retained the top position for the eleventh consecutive year. The 2027 edition also marks a notable development in the global higher education landscape, with Asian universities collectively surpassing European universities for the first time and three Asian universities ranking among the world’s top 15 institutions

Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences’ improved position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings reflects the university’s performance across areas covered by the ranking, including teaching, research, research quality and impact, industry engagement, and the development of international relations and collaborations. The result provides an indication of the university’s position in the national and international higher education landscape.
