Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) has once again demonstrated its strong position among higher education institutions worldwide in the Round University Ranking (RUR) 2026, achieving notable results in education, and financial sustainability

RUR World University Ranking is an international university ranking system that evaluates the performance of leading universities across the globe using 20 performance indicators grouped into four strategic dimensions of institutional activity: teaching quality, research performance, international diversity, and financial sustainability. The ranking provides longitudinal coverage from 2010 to the present, enabling consistent assessment and comparison of university performance over time. In the 2026 edition, approximately 2,400 universities from 95 countries participated in the ranking, including 55 universities from Iran. Harvard University and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) secured the first and second positions globally, respectively.

According to the latest RUR 2026 results, KUMS continues to rank among the leading universities in Iran and the region, maintaining a strong performance in the Teaching Ranking with a global position of 203 and a score of 73.8. The university's educational strength is further reflected in its outstanding education indicators, which place KUMS among the top-performing institutions internationally.

A significant achievement for KUMS in the national context is that it has retained its position as the third-ranked Iranian University of Medical Sciences in the RUR 2026 rankings, reaffirming its status as one of the country's leading medical universities

In the area of internationalization, KUMS recorded encouraging progress. The university improved its overall international ranking and increased its performance in attracting international students.
